Latinx Gender and Sexuality Studies Studies

This course begins at interrogating and queering the term Latinidad (and other related terms such as Hispanic, Chican@, and Latinx) from a queer lens to include indigenous and Black Latinidades. It locates the historical legacies and lineages of Latinx Gender and Queer Studies in founding scholarship and social movements such as Chicana feminism, Women of Color Feminism, intersectionality, and Queer of Color Critique. In doing so, we will also include transnational feminist study to consider the traditions of activism and mobilization for feminism and queer liberation in and across Latin America.
